Barnard&#39;s sketchbooks from which &quot;100 Waves&quot; was made.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;100 Waves&#8221; had it&#8217;s genesis in 2009 when artist\/film maker Michael W. Barnard decided to scan nearly 1,000 sketches from his trove of personal sketchbook\/journals going back to the early 1960s. As this project developed, Michael realized that there was an ongoing thread of surfing-oriented content amongst all of the diverse images being scanned. He decided to make a limited edition art book with these images. &#8220;100 Waves &#8211; Dispatches from a Journey to the Green Room&#8221; is the result.<\/p>\n<p>The first edition is limited to 100 hardbound copies, each of which is signed and numbered. An E-book edition is being planned.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from being a lifelong surfer, Michael is an award-winning film maker and visual artist. He has made features, documentaries, commercials, music videos and image films in diverse locations around the world.\u00a0His production company, \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.boltpix.com\/\">LightningBolt PIX, Inc<\/a>., has been in business since 1979.
