100 WAVES

All of Michael W. Barnard's sketchbooks from which "100 Waves" was made.

“100 Waves” had it’s genesis in 2009 when artist/film maker Michael W. Barnard decided to scan nearly 1,000 sketches from his trove of personal sketchbook/journals going back to the early 1960s. As this project developed, Michael realized that there was an ongoing thread of surfing-oriented content amongst all of the diverse images being scanned. He decided to make a limited edition art book with these images. “100 Waves – Dispatches from a Journey to the Green Room” is the result.

The first edition is limited to 100 hardbound copies, each of which is signed and numbered. An E-book edition is being planned.

Aside from being a lifelong surfer, Michael is an award-winning film maker and visual artist. He has made features, documentaries, commercials, music videos and image films in diverse locations around the world. His production company,  LightningBolt PIX, Inc., has been in business since 1979. His art works are included in private collections and public art installations across the U.S. His most recent works are complex photomontage works called Photofields.  Michael is a resident artist at the 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica, California.
